Idol Hours at London Miles

I will be participating in a new group show at London Miles Gallery. Artist were asked to choose a piece from an old master and create a new piece influenced by the original.  I chose to do the Starry Night by Van Gogh. I wanted to try something that was very different from my own painting style and approach. I had a lot of fun with the painting and like the outcome :).

Reception time: November 12th, 2010, 7-10 pm

"The Bad Ass", 1.62"x2', Gouache

"HOT BOX", 1.62"x2", Gouache

"Mrs. Fox paints a Thunderstorm", 1.62"x2", Gouache

I am proud to announce that I will be participating in Bad Dads, an art show tribute to the films of Wes Anderson (as nearly every Wes Anderson character has family issues, notably father issues!). Above you will find the pieces that I am contributing to the show, inspiration taken from his stop motion film, "The Fantastic Mr. Fox". The show will debut with a special Halloween party on Saturday, October 30th at 8pm in San Francisco’s newest art space, LoPo Gallery (http://lopogallery.com/).

For the opening expect a bevy of limited edition prints, a full bar, and a set by SF's own Dj Theory (http://www.facebook.com/djtheory)

Original artwork and prints will be made available after the opening through the Spoke Art website: http://www.spokeart.net/

Please be sure to follow us here on Facebook for more updates, print release info and sneak peeks! http://www.facebook.com/spokeart

Due to the full bar and our liquor license restrictions this event will be 21+

The line was out the door and around the bend.

It almost looks like a normal gallery reception.

I've met this unicorn before! He is a total pic whore.

DRawlings!!!!

If you squint you'll notice that in general people only wore black and pink to this event.

I kind of need everything they were wearing

This show put me in ecstasy!

Celeste the Tiny Giant. 9"x12", Acrylic.
I had a piece in this amazing show! Sweet Streets II flew into Gallery Nucleus in a blaze of hello kitty glory! Over 70 artists spanning the globe were invited to create 2D and 3D works where Japanese street fashions serves as the inspiration. This resulted in over 100 original works of art that are vibrant, exciting, playful, and diverse - evoking much the sentiments of those infamous Tokyo streets.
From delightful kawaii plush dolls to whimsical drawings and realistic paintings, there was surely something to inspire everyone that night. Including a fashion show by the sensational Japanese fashion brand 6%DOKIDOKI, music spun by Tune in Tokyo .

OMG BENTO MUCH?

I wish I wish upon a star for the time to make bento lunches for everyone I love, including me!!!! The other day I was in Little Tokyo Village and went completely mad with greed and desire for bento making products. The fire in me burned a flame so strong, I had to keep myself from dragging the whole shelf of products home. Luckily, my friend Lynne Wang was by my side or all hell would of broken loose on my bank account. I went home this trip with just two egg molds. I am a sucker for what I call the "AWE" factor in things and what better to awe at than your food?! It is a sure fire way to make any meal an experience and a really great way to trick yourself and your loved ones into eating healthy foods. Please see below and drool with me!

These are the little guys I brought home.

SHUTUP!

THE F!

I Love uu!!!!

I need it!

"Jest in Time: The Phylogenesis of Clowns" featured on Hi Fructose.

Hi! I was delighted to learn that the show I am participating in called "Jest in Time: The Phylogenesis of Clowns" at Distinction Gallery was featured on the Hi-Fructose Site! Check it out here! Distinction Gallery and curator Dio Sumagaysay recently joined forces to put together a fundraiser show benefiting ArtHatch, a non-profit youth art organization. Entitled "Jest In Time: The Phylogenesis of Clowns", the show features not only an interesting theme (clowns!) but also puts a twist on the traditional gallery sales structure by offering all works at a potentially discounted auction-style format or through the standard buy it now retail price.

Los Angeles Renegade Craft Fair was Excellent!

I went to a little park next to China town this morning. I never really payed much attention to this little  plot of ground, but today was very different than other days. Today this place was transformed into a visually delectable world of crafty goodness, full of tents filled to the brim with everything my heart has ever desired. The girl in me and the creative person inside immediately felt akin to the goings about of the tent dwellers. I was (to say the least) a very happy girl!! There was a great mixture of art prints, nick nacks and jewels and at the end of it all I had to be dragged away against my will. Don't feel bad for me though, I did manage to carry off some nice booty for myself. Indeed you must keep watch for the next fair here. And soon maybe next year, HP will have its own tent of magic!

Beautiful clock necklace from Oh, Hello Friend Booth.
This birdhouse had a little door you can open to peep a little bird

BOOTY!!
